LUBBOCK, Texas — The United Family and Mrs Baird’s Bread® announced the April and May winners of the eleventh annual Teachers On The Rise program. Since the program launched at the beginning of the school year, nominations have poured in from students and families across the South Plains explaining the ways their teacher(s) go above-and-beyond the call of duty and why they deserve special recognition.
Congratulations to our winners from April: Kaitlyn De Luna of Lubbock Cooper East Elementary (Lubbock Cooper ISD), Anita Blakely of Cavazos Middle School (Lubbock ISD) and Jalee Carver of Estacado High School (Lubbock ISD).
Congratulations to our winners from May: Paula James of Willow Bend Elementary (Frenship ISD), Kristi Coleman of Ropes Junior High School (Ropes ISD) and Morgan Jackson of Ropes High School (Ropes ISD).
“We want to congratulate all of our teachers and students who were a part of this round of winners,” said Nancy Sharp, corporate engagement director for The United Family. “There are so many teachers who are deserving of recognition in our communities. We can’t wait to celebrate our Teachers on the Rise even more at the end-of-year banquet!”
“With close to 1,500 nominations this school year, we have heard about many amazing educators across the South Plains,” said Shane Sumrow, the director of Teachers On The Rise. “From Lamesa to Ropes to Lorenzo to Idalou and of course LISD, LCISD and Frenship, all of our 27 winning teachers this year demonstrated a passion for teaching and the drive to do whatever it takes to provide a quality education for our children. We look forward to honoring them one more time at our upcoming year-end banquet.”
Winning teachers receive a $100 United Supermarkets gift card, lunch for two to the Texas Tech Club and a gift box full of Mrs Baird’s goodies. The students who nominate a winning teacher also receive a $50 American Express gift card. Teachers On The Rise is sponsored by the Texas Tech Club.
