United Family pharmacies prepare for flu & respiratory illness season
LUBBOCK, Texas — With health experts anticipating another early flu season, pharmacy teams across The United Family are stocking up on vaccines for their communities.
In Texas and New Mexico, pharmacy teams at United Supermarkets, Market Street, Albertsons Market, and Amigos are equipped and ready to administer flu vaccines, the new seasonal COVID-19 vaccine, as well as the new RSV vaccine.
“From the flu vaccine to the new RSV vaccine to the latest COVID-19 vaccine, our teams are prepared to make sure guests and their families are ready for the fall and winter,” said Tim Purser, director of pharmacy for The United Family. “With the prediction of another early flu and respiratory illness season, it remains imperative for guests to seek out their flu shots as well as other immunizations as early as possible.”
Along with the CDC, United Familypharmacists recommend a seasonal flu vaccine for people of all ages. Typically, the seasonal flu shot is free through most insurance providers but has an out-of-pocket cost for those without insurance. The flu shot, RSV vaccine, and COVID-19 vaccine can all be safely co-administered in one visit.
Everyone 12-years-old or older qualifies to receive the seasonal COVID vaccine as long as it has been two months since your last dose of an older version of the vaccine. For children under 12-years-old, the recommendations can be a little different, but United Family pharmacists can provide information to inform guests so they can make the right choices for their families.
In addition to the flu, COVID-19, and RSV vaccines, guests will have access to vaccines for Shingles, Tetanus, Pneumonia, HPC, Meningitis, Hep A, Hep B, and more.
Pharmacists will only require a guest’s insurance card at the time of the shot. Guests can either walk in, call to make an appointment or use the newly updated online scheduler to make an appointment at the location of their choosing. This scheduler can be used for all vaccines offered through the pharmacy.
