The United Family launches statewide fundraiser for Ruidoso flood relief efforts

RUIDOSO, N.M. — On Thursday, The United Family launched a statewide donate-at-the-register campaign to raise funds for disaster relief in Ruidoso following the devastating impacts of flooding. Running from July 31 to August 10, all proceeds raised by the campaign will go to the  Salvation Army of New Mexico’s “Ruidoso Flood Relief” Fund.

The United Family will contribute a $5,000 lead gift in this fundraising effort.

The historic flash flooding swept through the community on July 8 when monsoonal rains fell on burn scar areas from 2024 South Fork and Salt fires, creating dangerous conditions that led to rapid water rise.

The month of July has been challenging for the Village of Ruidoso with multiple days of issued flash flood warnings. The July 8 flooding tragically caused three fatalities.

“We have supported the people of the Ruidoso and surrounding areas for decades and will continue to support them now. We hope that these funds will help this region on the road to recovery,” said Sidney Hopper, president of The United Family.

The fundraising campaign will run in all Market Street and Albertsons Market locations across New Mexico. As with past donate-at-the register campaigns, guests across the region can add any dollar amount to their grocery bill at checkout. If not prompted by a cashier, guests can always ask to donate.
