FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(LUBBOCK)- The health and safety of everyone who walks through our doors is a top priority for The United Family. We recently learned a team member at our Market Street store located on 19th and Quaker Avenue in Lubbock has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Our thoughts are with the team member who tested positive, and we expect a full recovery.
The team member worked one day last week, from 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, prior to the onset of symptoms on April 3. The store has been through multiple cycles of our enhanced cleaning and sanitizing /disinfecting processes since that day.
In a news release today, the City of Lubbock Health Department said, “Since this exposure happened last Thursday, this case is considered a low risk of possible community exposure due to the store’s multiple cycles of enhanced cleaning and sanitizing/disinfecting processes that protects both customers and employees. Therefore, there is no current risk to the public.”
The United Family utilizes these safety and cleaning protocols across all stores:
- Sanitation teams have the sole focus of continually cleaning and sanitizing surfaces such as shopping carts, door handles, pin pads, etc., during store open hours
- Check stands are sanitized every 30 minutes
- Hourly hand washing opportunities are provided for all team members
- Hand sanitizer is available at check stands and at the pharmacy counter
- Plexiglass panels have been installed at check stands to provide a barrier between the guest and team members
- Social distancing signage at entry points and on stickers worn by team members
- Social distancing floor markers
The store will remain open, and we will continue to follow an enhanced cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting process in every department. We have reaffirmed with all of our team members that they need to wash their hands and disinfect check stands at least every hour, in addition to practicing social distancing. We have also reminded team members to stay at home and call their healthcare provider right away if they develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as a cough or shortness of breath.
We ask our guests to be our partners and wash their hands before and after shopping trips, minimize trips to the grocery store by making a shopping list and sending just one person to the grocery store to shop. Guests can also protect themselves by using hand sanitizer and cart wipes, practice social distancing and staying at home when they feel sick.
