BROWNWOOD, Texas — Ever since the devastating winter storms that froze Texas to a standstill, blood supplies have been at drastically low levels across the state. To help combat these shortages, the United Supermarkets in Brownwood will be hosting a Vitalant blood drive on Saturday, June 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
While all blood types are needed, Type O-positive and Type O-negative in particular are reaching critical lows and there is an urgent need for individuals with these blood types to donate.
Appointments are encouraged, but not necessary for people wanting to donate. Use this link to create an appointment or call 877-258-4825 and use code: United.
Guests who have received the vaccine for COVID-19 are immediately eligible to donate blood, platelets or plasma if they meet all other eligibility criteria, according to Vitalant.
As a thank you for making a donation, guests will receive coupons for Chick-fil-A as well as other fast-food chains.
